Stash Report Week 19 and Giveaway

Happy Mother's Day!

And now down to the numbers:
Used this Week: 57 yards
Used year to Date: 109.5 yards
Added this Week: 12 yards
Added Year to Date: 33.5 yards
Net: -76
This brings me up to date from Week 7 and still mighty impressive, patting myself on the back!!!
Went from this....
to this.....
It now looks like this, Garden Party by Bonnie Hunter
and this, there are 42 of these cut out for a Swap with a woman from Texas, Amy, that I met on a Swap last year. We are going to swap 4 each month(and make 4 for ourselves using only scraps for 5 months and we will each end up with a quilt using a pattern from Bonnie Hunter on Quiltville! Thanks Bonnie! Amy will do uphill houses and I will do downhill houses.
and this what I cut into strips. Ready to be placed into containers.
There were about 200 2" squares cut to use in this:
I will never let that basket get that full again. I think I need to write that 100 times so I will not let it happen. It took almost 3 full days to accomplish it. Sometimes I looked at the basket and wondered if I was actually making any progress. Maybe I should switch to a smaller basket?
I also worked on my Bonnie(Garden Party) quilt from Quiltmaker magazine. I am attacking it from both corners, makes it seem more manageable. It is also all cut out. I am using it as a leader/ender project.
Finally, I get to the "Giveaway".
I am a block tester for Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks magazine. The last round produced this beauty. I made my blocks out of a coordinated colorway, also from that same basket when it was full. I chose the ones that fit together and here it is.
It is yet to be quilted but it is on the pile! These designers put so much work into the blocks you should get a look at all 100! I'll give you a chance to have your very own copy to peruse at your leisure and see what you can come up with plus a little extra for your stash, 42 5" novelty squares.
Leave a comment and on Thursday night at 8 pm(CST) I will draw a winner. You really don't want to miss this issue. I have all 11 issues and refer to them constantly for inspiration.

Don't miss the progress that goes on at Patchwork Times with Judy's crew!

As Always,

Deb

  1. Wow! You are an inspiration to me. I probably have as many scraps as you used to. Trying to use them up, but somehow they multiply.

    1. After the first day of cutting it did not even look like I had touched the basket, in fact, it looked worse. I kept going and going. I repeat, "I will not let that basket fill up again" Just keep cutting with a plan. Bonnie's Scrap system is the best! You can do it!!!

    1. Using scraps is so "freeing", I stopped caring about what fabric line it came from or did it match, just worried about value. I am loving it! Keep on cutting!

    1. It has taken me a while to get to the point that I really take Bonnie's advice to heart. Just keep cutting. The strips are 1 1/2, 2 and 2 1/2. I know I will use those sizes. Just figure out what sizes you use most and cut!

  5. Scrap wrangling is in my future. I am trying to get my sewing room a little more organized. I am the most pleased with it now as I have ever been. A good sign!

I have a Garden Party under way as well. I'm working on another Bonnie quilt with my sights set on another of hers in progress to move to next.

Thanks for stopping by and voting on my border options.

    1. My pleasure but in the end you have to do what makes you pleased with it! I am loving this quilt and letting go about matchy-matchy!

  7. I have an abundance of organized scraps a la Bonnie's system though I'm trying to not cut squares until they're needed. There are always small pieces to cut to squares though. Thank you for your giveaway, I think I've only managed to get one or two of these 100 Blocks magazines over the years. (edited to fix a word!)

  8. I'm always on the lookout for the next publication of the 100 Blocks by Quiltmaker. I enjoy reviewing the blocks for new inspiration from these talented quilters. Thank you for this giveaway. Your blog is "new to me" and I will be returning. The discussion of trying to contain those ever present scrap baskets was full of good advice..

    1. The mag is sometimes hard to find, I kinda wish they would have a subscription for it. Thanks for visiting and glad you gleaned something from it. The blog is mostly to document my quilts and keep me on track to using up stash!

  9. Garden Party is calling to me! I like your scrappy houses, too, and the idea for one of you to make uphill and one to make downhill is brilliant. I would love to win the giveaway!

    1. Oh, please make sure you do it! It is so fun and going together quickly. One thought, the instructions written do not seem like Bonnie's usual, well written, clear ones. If you are a Bonnie Fan, just do it like she does all her of her other's. I cut all mine and then assembly line sewed. Good Luck!
